Reds goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili saved an Erling Haaland penalty before Haaland headed the opener just before the half-hour mark.
Virgil Van Dijk then had a header ruled out before Nico Gonzalez doubled City’s lead deep into first-half injury time. A Jeremy Doku stunner in the 63rd-minute wrapped up the scoring and the victory for Pe Guardiola's side.
‘The defeat, their fifth in their last six Permier League games, sees Liverpool drop to eighth.
Aston Villa enjoyed their biggest Premier League win of the season with a 4-Ovictory over Bournemouth.
Emiliano Buendia put Villa 1-0 up just before the half-hour mark with a free-kick from just outside the box.
Villa added a second when Morgan Rogers nutmegged Alex Jimenez and fed the ball to Amadou Onana, who fired a low shot into the corner of the net.
