Barbeary hails Bath's bonus-point display
Western Daily Press
|January 12, 2026
ALFIE Barbeary starred for Bath Rugby in France as they claimed a 43-20 bonus-point triumph away to Castres Olympique on Friday night to put them in pole position to finish top of Pool Two in the Champions Cup.
-
The first half was a fairly even affair as Castres scored two tries, thanks to Teddy Durand-Pradere and Nathanael Hulleu, while Bath collected three with Cam Redpath, Ted Hill and Tom Dunn all scoring from close range. The visitors were the happier going into halftime as they led 21-17 despite having both Beno Obano and Will Muir sent to the bin. Bath tightened up in the second half and secured the bonus-point try on 47 minutes, thanks to Obano, before they wrapped up the match with a Finn Russell penalty and two late tries from Muir and then Tom Carr-Smith with almost his first touch.
