A view to a deal – drone firm moves to Swindon

In the 1984 movie 007, played by Roger Moore, was pitted against Christopher Walken’s megalomaniac Max Zorin.

The then Spectrum Centre was used as a warehouse belonging to Zorin Industries and several shots were filmed there.

The Lord Norman Foster-designed building later became the Renault Centre and over the years also housed a DVD production line, a car seat manufacturer and a soft play centre.

Defence Secretary John Healey was on hand yesterday to mark the building's latest use, which could create up to 1,000 jobs over the next five years.

And as befitting a building that once housed the world's most famous fictional spy, it is a firm that specialises in drones used for surveillance that has taken over the site.
