Eight million stitches bring Bible stories of creation to life

A NEW art exhibition exploring the story of creation in eight million stitches will be on display at Truro Cathedral throughout the summer.
Threads Through Creation has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors on its travels across England, and this will be the only chance to see it in Cornwall.
Inspired by the verses of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, textile artist Jacqui Parkinson has reimagined this ancient story using layers of silk, hand-dyed materials, metallic leathers, gold leaf, miles of thread and more than eight million stitches.
The 12 large embroidered silk panels, each around three metres high and four metres wide, took three years to complete and weave together the teachings of the Bible into one visual experience.
The work goes on display at Truro Cathedral next Tuesday and will be there until Wednesday, August 20.
