Cats of South Africa ropes in veterinarians

CATS of South Africa, a coalition dedicated to cat welfare across the nation, is taking a significant leap towards advancing the wellbeing of community felines through the participation of veterinarians in the Feral Fix Challenge.

This global initiative, spearheaded by Alley Cat Rescue, calls upon veterinary professionals to offer low-cost or free spay/neuter surgeries and rabies vaccinations for free-roaming cats.

The underlying aim is to ensure humane management of feral cat populations, reducing risks of shelter euthanasia, starvation, and disease.

As a testament to the Challenge's impact, over 470 000 cats have been spayed or neutered since its inception, highlighting the substantial progress made in managing feral cat populations worldwide.
