Driven by an elevation in bilateral ties, the synergy between Vietnam and Thailand is expected to unlock vast opportunities in joint ventures, tech transfer, and regional supply chain integration in the years ahead.

Hanoi last week hosted the C ASEAN Vietnam Group Sharing 2026 event to share Vietnam-Thailand cooperation perspectives, attracting the participation of government officials and the business community.

Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and former ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting leader for Vietnam, said that Vietnam-Thailand relations are underpinned by enduring geographical and cultural links, from the shared Mekong basin to a common rice-based civilisation and community-oriented way of life.

“The partnership is entering a new phase, marked by its elevation to a comprehensive strategic partnership, with a focus on peace, inclusive development, innovation, and strengthened regional coordination,” he said.

Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador of Thailand to Vietnam, said that economic cooperation has spanned various sectors such as trade, logistics connectivity, renewable energy, and green development. “Thailand is currently the eighth-largest foreign investor in Vietnam in terms of cumulative investment. Both countries enjoy a unique warm and genuine bond between peoples, contributing to the growing number of visitors and people-to-people exchanges,” Sriphiromya said.
