Resources to be mobilised for long-term airport plan
Vietnam Investment Review
|May 18, 2026
While Vietnam’s potential adjustments to airport planning are viewed as a driver for more private investment inflows, more enabling factors are in need to increase both feasibility and efficiency.
The Government Office on May 15 summarised the conclusions of Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc on adjusting the national airport system plan, covering the rest of this decade and beyond.
Accordingly, the government supports research into expanding and developing the airport system, prioritising the mobilisation of resources to invest in additional airports.
DPM Tuc said, “The planning and investment in airports need to be carefully considered, and synchronised with other modes of transport, ensuring feasibility, security, and stability. It must ensure compliance with master plans at all levels, and carefully calculate financial and social efficiency, preventing any waste of resources during implementation.”
He requested the Ministry of Construction (MoC) to review the overall content of adjustments to airport system planning for approval within this quarter.
The people’s committees of relevant provinces and cities are responsible for coordinating closely with the MoC in the process of submitting and approving relevant plans.
