Ericsson powering the country’s next digital leap
Vietnam Investment Review
|June 01, 2026
Building on more than three decades of collaboration in Vietnam, Ericsson is deepening its local partnership to support the country’s ambition of becoming a strong regional digital economy. Rita Mokbel, president of Ericsson Vietnam, explained more to VIR’s Bich Thuy.
What are Ericsson’s priorities to continue supporting Vietnam’s digital transformation path?
The country achieved around 40,000 5G sites by the beginning of this year, which means approximately 90 per cent of population coverage across the country. This positions it as one of the most ambitious and fastest-moving digital transformation markets in the region.
By treating 5G as critical national infrastructure, Vietnam is not only upgrading its network, but also creating a strong foundation for the economy it intends to become.
We are proud to be part of this journey, supporting Vietnam in realising its ambition of building a stronger digital economy by accelerating transformation across all industries.
The momentum is continuing. At Mobile World Congress, we announced a partnership with VNPT to bring digital infrastructure to airports, particularly by providing stronger digital infrastructure and connectivity. We also signed a MoU with Viettel, where we are partnering to transform their operations into Autonomous Network Level 4. We look forward to more collaboration throughout 2026.
Today, we are working with the government, communications service providers, and enterprises on how to bring this digital infrastructure into enterprises. We see that enterprises today need to further realise and leverage the full potential of 5G because the productivity gains, efficiency improvements, and cost savings delivered by 5G are real and proven.
