Slow marathon that meant a lot for me

Last week I took on the Brighton Marathon, 10 years from when I ran this race on week 13 of chemotherapy having been diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer five months before.

On the start line with butterflies and carrying an injury gave me no confidence I would finish this time. But I just reminded myself that in 2015 I expected to be long gone by now.

The first six miles flew by as my family managed to see me three times, with every sighting a boost.

But the race got tougher as every mile passed, not helped by the prostate cancer sufferer's need for the loo more than 10 times - asking cafe owners or using a bush.
