Northampton is named as drink driving capital

THE highest rate of drink-drive convictions is in Northampton, and for drug-driving it is Liverpool, according to DVLA figures.
Some 175,000 people nationally were done for the former and 96,000 for the latter in 2020 to 2024.
In Northampton, 4.8 drivers per 1,000 were prosecuted for boozing before getting behind the wheel in the five-year period, compared to just 0.8 in Central London.
Liverpool's drug-driving rate was 6.2 drivers per 1,000 while the Shetland Islands, Scotland, saw just 0.2.
