'NICO HAS THE BEST TEACHER IN ROD'

That's the view of Pep Guardiola after he confirmed Manchester City's injury-dogged Ballon d'Or winner will once again be absent today as his team face champions Liverpool.
The reason for Guardiola's laid-back attitude is Nico Gonzalez (left) - the player Rodri has mentored to be his perfect stand-in.
The 23-year-old midfielder is in the best form of his City career, having joined from Porto for £50million at the end of the January transfer window, and Guardiola gives most of the credit for that to the guidance he has received from Rodri (right).
He said: "Nico has had the best teacher in that position. Rodri is one of the most competitive footballers I've ever met and how he pushes his teammates is unbelievable.
"He has always been incredibly positive with Nico, helping him a lot.
