Virus cases up by 20% in one week

COVID cases have leapt to their highest levels this year, data has revealed.

Almost 1,500 people tested positive last week - up 20% on the week before and the highest seven-day total since 2024.

While most people no longer take covid tests, the UK Health Security Agency runs surveillance testing to keep track of viruses spreading through the country.
