NICK Owen says hundreds of men have told him his cancer battle made them get tested, with some even saying it saved their lives.

- BY MATT ROPER

It is two years since the popular TV news host learned he had "extensive and aggressive" prostate cancer.

He had no symptoms but was sent for tests by his GP after his blood showed slightly elevated prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in April 2023.

Nick's decision to go public about it raised awareness of the disease - and led to a surge in men getting tests.

A record 55,033 men were diagnosed that year with prostate cancer, a 25% rise in cases recorded four years earlier.

Nick, 77, got his diagnosis in the same year he celebrated 50 years in broadcasting.

He said: "It was possibly the worst day of my life. But I'm still thriving. I'm still grateful.

LUCKY

"I'm feeling well and glad to be where I am now. Hopefully I'm cancer free. I'm a lucky boy."
