Trump expected to surrender in Georgia election case

Former United States President Donald Trump is expected to surrender himself to the Fulton County jail in the coming week in connection with efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, media reports say.

Last Monday, Trump and 18 co-defendants were charged with a plot to subvert the 2020 election results in the southern state of Georgia. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis set 25 August as a deadline for Trump’s surrender. Negotiations between the former president’s lawyers and Willis’ prosecutors are expected to continue into next week, ahead of the surrender deadline. The exact timing of Trump’s surrender remains unclear.
