The less developed parts of the world have been described in different words.

Sometimes they have been called the Third World, at other times designated as the Group of 77 and seen as being represented by the Non Aligned Movement.

But in recent times, the term "Global South" became increasingly prominent and the focus has been on the importance of improving the instruments of global governance to change things.

Just what is the dividing line between the Global South and the Global North is not easy to determine.
