Science-Backed Treatments, Data-Driven Programmes

At the heart of this approach is The Omnipotent Concentrate ($690), Orveda's signature longevity serum.

Backed by a four-year research collaboration between scientists and medical experts, the formula is said to slow the spread of senescent cells, create the ideal environment for healthy cells to thrive, and delay the arrival of new senescent cells.

Designed to "work with the skin, not against it", Orveda blends a unique trio of bioengineered ingredients: prebiotics, marine enzymes and kombucha.

"These senolytic treatments prolong skin's healthy state to ultimately extend that healthy glow throughout time – a complete shift from traditional skincare, with wishful claims that aim to go back in time," says Mr Katusevanako.

Fewer Invasive Treatments

Chi Longevity's Dr Lapsys says longevity-focused skincare is backed by robust scientific evidence.

"Randomised controlled trials indicate that longevity-focused skincare can slow the visible progression of ageing and may also target the biology of skin ageing itself. Keeping the skin healthy from within may also mean fewer invasive treatments are needed over time," he says.

However, he acknowledges that while topical formulations deliver active ingredients directly to the skin, their effectiveness is limited by the barrier function of the epidermis' outermost layer.

Therefore, he advocates for internal solutions, such as dietary interventions and supplementation, to modulate inflammation and substantially enhance cellular health.

"Several clinical studies demonstrate that combining internal treatments with targeted topical applications leads to more lasting improvements in skin elasticity, hydration and overall skin repair," he says.

As longevity skincare continues to gain momentum, Ms Seah-Ma urges consumers to cut through the noise and approach bold product claims with discernment.

"Longevity is a strong consumer health aspiration, but many brands rely on vague promises rather than true science," she says.
