Denver bag 13th win in 14 games with LA, whose coach Redick says they lack spirit

NUGGETS STRIKE PAY DIRT AGAIN AT LAKERS

Los Angeles Lakers coach J.J. Redick slammed his team's lack of "spirit to compete" after Nikola Jokic scored 34 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to spark the Denver Nuggets over the Lakers 127-102 on Nov 23, continuing their recent dominance of the rivalry.

The Nuggets (9-6) won for the 13th time in the last 14 contests against the Lakers, including ousting them in the National Basketball Association (NBA) playoffs in the past two seasons.

However, Redick insisted that record did not play on his players' minds, saying: "I have a pretty clear idea of what happened in the third (quarter). But whatever it was, it was not because we were haunted by the ghosts of the past or something like that.

"It was kind of obvious to me what happened there. Just not the right spirit."

The Lakers (10-6) were outscored 37-15 in the third quarter, essentially settling the contest.

Earlier, Redick has also hit out at his players, saying: "Schematically, certainly we'll have to review some stuff. Clearly, the spirit to compete just wasn't there."
