Lenicc Eyewear: Eye candy
The Straits Times
|October 25, 2024
Ms Grace Ng's "aha" moment came during a scorching European summer in 2018, when a pair of cheap sunglasses failed her miserably at the Colosseum in Rome, Italy.
-
The eyewear's poor fit, combined with the intense sun, caused eye strain and headaches.
This moment of frustration inspired the former retail manager to create Lenicc Eyewear, one of Singapore's first customisable eyewear brands, in December 2019.
Drawing from her background in fashion design, engineering as well as research and development, Ms Ng, 41, set out to design eyewear that addresses the needs of wearers. With support from three shareholders, she invested nearly $100,000 into creating and marketing the brand.
Meanwhile, she worked with local eye specialists to ensure each frame offers precise dimensions, comfortable nose bridge fits, and well-constructed arms to accommodate various face shapes and sizes.
The frames are also intentionally designed in oversized shapes to shield the eyes and the delicate skin around them, while the different coloured lenses and arms are interchangeable, allowing customers to mix and match for more than 600 combinations.
