IT'S SHOWTIME FOR BTS

Fans are here all hyped up over screenings of the K-pop supergroup's concert films, which are almost sold out, says Shaw Theatres

When she first found out that four BTS concert films, which were never before shown on the big screen, will open in Singapore in September as part of the global BTS Movie Weeks initiative, Ms Nurul Huda immediately booked tickets to all four screenings.

The 39-year-old Singaporean has also prepared photo cards, which she will give out to fellow fans of the K-pop supergroup at the shows she is attending.

She will be watching the concert films with her 13-year-old daughter, who is also an Army, as BTS' fan base is known.

“BTS Movie Weeks brings back the memories and heartfelt moments that brought BTS and Army together,” says the customer service consultant, who has been following the band since their 2013 debut.

“It is also fun to go for such screenings with fellow Army before BTS' upcoming world tour.”

A way to whet Army's appetite before their comeback in 2026, BTS Movie Weeks also marks the South Korean boy band's first official group event since returning to civilian life after completing their compulsory national service.

Jin, 32; and J-Hope, 31, were discharged in 2024, while the other five members - Suga, 32; RM, 31; V, 29; Jimin, 29; and Jungkook, 28 – were discharged in June.

BTS have promised that a new album will drop in the first half of 2026 - their first full-length release since 2020's Proof.

It will be followed by a world tour, their first since the Permission To Dance On Stage tour in 2022.

During the two-week theatrical event, held from Sept 24 to Oct 5, four of BTS' most celebrated concert films will be screened in 2,500 theatres in more than 65 countries and territories. They include the US, Britain, Mexico, Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Indonesia.
