Educators ● Relooking of policies to prevent burnout a welcome move

I read with interest the article "Teachers need not share personal contact numbers, answer messages after school hours: Chan Chun Sing" (Sept 18).

The intended outcomes of the refreshed Guidelines for School-Home Partnership are clear - reducing workload for teachers and setting boundaries for communication inside and outside the school. The refreshing of policies to protect educators from burnout is a welcome move.

Communication within schools currently takes place on multiple avenues, with the most commonly used one being mobile devices. Applications such as WhatsApp are popular, and many teachers are members of multiple group chats. Examples of these group chats include form class groups, as well as schoolwide groups such as emergency groups.
