Every evening, many Amber Park residents enjoy lounging at The Stratosphere rooftop recreation deck perched on level 22 of the East Coast condominium development.

It is a simple joy they might have had to wait much longer for if the developer, City Developments Limited (CDL), had not adopted an innovative approach to construction.

With the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly method, the sky bridges that link the three 21-storey towers were built off-site, then carefully lifted into place.

Its builder Unison Construction Pte Ltd says the approach halved construction time from 14 to seven months, and reduced noise during assembly. Using a steel bridge over a concrete one also helped CDL save nearly 15 per cent in costs.

The way the rooftop park was built reflects CDL's wider philosophy.
