Building a treasure trove of moments with my children

Memories are times people borrow, for savouring tomorrow. And with children growing up, these memories will be precious in the future

One morning, I was seated next to my girl at breakfast. She was nine years old then, dressed in the floral pyjamas her grandma had given her.

While I was reading my newspapers, she was enjoying her cup of hot Milo and an egg tart. At some point, she was talking to her egg tart like a friend.

This was our morning routine for a few years before she graduated from primary to secondary school.

But that morning was special to me. I decided to stop reading and just observe her. I did it on stealth mode so that she was not alerted.

At some point, I felt the need to save the moment. I took out my mobile phone and quietly snapped a picture of her.

Instantly, an illuminated part of my past with my girl was bottled up for keepsake. That cherished moment became timeless for me.

I could now recall it at will, all thanks to digital technology. That moment no longer came and went. Once stowed away, it stays.

Memories are times we borrow, for savouring tomorrow. I know such moments will be precious in the future.
