Massive damage in New Alipore and Mousuni Island fires

A devastating fire broke out near the Durgapur Bridge in New Alipore, burning many items and shanties to ashes this evening.

The fire spread near a private hospital around 7 p.m. from the slum areas. This is the second fire incident in the area, following the one in the Topsia slum yesterday, spreading panic in the locality.
Around 12 fire engines along with a disaster management team arrived at the scene. Mayor Firhad Hakim and minister Aroop Biswas visited the spot. Firhad Hakim said the cause of the fire is yet to be identified and probably there were inflammable articles there.
