The Statesman
|November 12, 2024
From Prince Dwarka Nath Tagore, Debendra Nath Tagore, Sir R N Mukherjee, Sir Biren Mukherjee to Purnendu Chatterjee, Chandra Sekhar Ghosh and hundreds of others- the ways Bengali businessmen conduct their businesses have traversed a long way, the nearly four decades long decay and the dip notwithstanding.

There have been criticisms, there have been perception problems, but the business community from the erstwhile British Capital never washed their hands of business. And now, for a change, the members of the business fraternity of Bengal are coming together to help each other grow, to beat their own drums and to stand up against any negative criticism.
Aptly called Bengal Business Council (BBC), the recently formed body of Bengali business community, has already facilitated businesses worth well over Rs 1000 crore among themselves and the figure is growing each single day. So is number of members. The organisation already has more that 450 members from amongst the virtual whos who of Bengal business, said Avishek Auddy, Managing Director, Dencol (India) Pvt. Ltd, Chandra's Chemical Industries Pvt. Ltd. He is also the Chairman of BBC.
