Manmohan Singh's rise from humble beginnings to global prominence is a story of determination and intellect. Born in pre-partition India, his journey from studying by candlelight to earning a doctorate at Oxford exemplified a relentless pursuit of excellence. This academic grounding became the bedrock of his economic vision, which he translated into action as finance minister in 1991.
