Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Brazil for the BRICS+ summit came at a critical moment in this journey.
It offers India a valuable opportunity to not only strengthen bilateral ties with Brazil, which is one of its more balanced and promising partners, but also to engage the broader BRICS+ bloc on key issues of trade equity and market access.
Modi's visit was actually part of a multi-nation diplomatic tour. This has to be seen in light of India's growing trade relationship with BRICS nations. One has to take into account the key trends, dependencies, and opportunities. The visit offered India a valuable opportunity to not only strengthen bilateral ties with Brazil, which is one of its more balanced and promising partners, but also to engage the broader BRICS+ bloc on key issues of trade equity and market access.
Significantly, BRICS, a formal grouping of key emerging economies, was originally constituted by five countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
