Second from bottom in the ISL points table, the southern outfit are out for an elusive win against the Kolkata giants

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE KOLKATA, 25 FEBRUARY

Having endured a dismal 2024-25 season, both East Bengal FC and Hyderabad FC will aim for a much sought-after win when they meet in an Indian Super League (ISL) at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) in Kolkata on Wednesday.

East Bengal FC have won twice in a row coming into this match. However, their prospects of qualifying for the top-6 are extremely difficult. Currently at 24 points from 21 games, even three wins from here will take them to 33 - just one more than the currently sixth-positioned Mumbai City FC (32), who also have as many games in hand (currently played 21).

The situation is not so bright for Hyderabad FC, who have won and lost twice each in previous five games, placing themselves at the penultimate position with 17 points from 21 encounters.
