Markets End Lower, Pharma Gains Despite 200 Pc Tariff Threat

Stock market on Wednesday ended on a negative note after a rangebound session. Nifty was below 25,500 as investors stayed cautious ahead of Trump's announcement on trade deals.

At close, the Sensex was down 176.43 points or 0.21 per cent at 83,536.08, and the Nifty was down 46.40 points or 0.18 per cent at 25,476.10.

Further, the broader indices outperformed the main indices with BSE mid-cap index ended flat, while smallcap index added 0.5 per cent.

Among the sectors, most indices ended lower with Nifty Realty down by 1.49 per cent, Metal down by 1.40 per cent, Oil & Gas down by 1.25 per cent and IT down by 0.78 per cent.

On the other hand, the key names that clocked gains were FMCG up by 0.80 per cent and Consumer Durables up by 0.48 per cent.
