Sources confirm that CCTV footage from the college supports the survivor's testimony
The investigation into the alleged gang rape of a first-year law student at a prominent Kolkata college has sparked a political firestorm, as alarming details emerge about the main accused, Manojit Mishra—a former student with a documented history of violence, substance abuse, and alleged sexual misconduct.
The Kolkata Police have formed a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has reviewed over 7.5 hours of CCTV footage from the college premises. Sources confirm that the footage supports the survivor's testimony. Forensic experts have collected clothing samples and DNA evidence, while police are compiling a list of individuals present on campus at the time of the alleged assault. Call records of the accused are also being sourced from telecom providers.
