A disguised warning issued at the changing dynamic with the US, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that in international relations there are "no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests." He also reaffirmed that India's position will remain "unchanged" irrespective of any form of "external pressure."

Notably, the statement amidst the ongoing turmoil following US President Donald Trump's levying 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods, after India refused to bow down to pressure of stopping/halting the crude oil import from Russia.

Affirming that the country will continue to protect the interests of its farmers and citizens, Singh said, "This vision will keep us secure in the future and will give us a prominent position in the emerging powers of the world. This vision is being reflected in our every decision. In the swiftly changing world, the so-called developed countries are showing a form of protectionism, and the trade and tariff war is getting serious."
