Evacuation from Lachen Successfully Completed

Fresh heavy snowfall has been reported in parts of East Sikkim since Sunday afternoon, prompting authorities to remain vigilant
The evacuation of stranded tourists from Lachen, an idyllic hill station of Sikkim's Mangan district, had been successfully completed. According to the latest updates from the District Information Office (DIO) of Mangan, tourists who remained stuck on the Lachen side, were evacuated safely via an alternative route through Gurudongmar and Dongkha La, finally reaching Chungthang on Sunday.
General Secretary of Himalayan Hospitality & Tourism Development Network (HHTDN), Samrat Sanyal confirmed that coordinated efforts ensured the safe evacuation of all tourists from Lachen.
As per the information received from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Chungthang, a total of 126 tourist vehicles, including two-wheelers, left Lachen on Sunday morning via Dongkha La towards Lachung. Most of the vehicles had successfully crossed Chungthang in their journey towards their respective destinations through Sangkalang.
