Demand for Munde's exit grows after his aide Valmik Karad is named main accused

Demand for the resignation of Maharashtra Food & Civil Supplies Minister Dhananjay Munde of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has grown after the police charge sheet which was filed on Saturday after 80 days of the murder of Massajog village official Santosh Deshmukh. Munde's close associate Valmik Karad was named as the main accused behind the murder.
In a related development, the Deshmukh family, which had claimed that Valmik Karad got VIP treatment in the Beed District Central Jail, has now alleged that the prison administration deleted the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to destroy evidence and suppress the entire case. The Deshmukh family alleged that an attempt was being made to show that the CCTV camera itself was faulty.
The Deshmukh family plans to complain about this destruction of evidence to the Director General of Prisons and the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Earlier, the Deshmukh family had demanded CCTV footage.
