CT 2025: Proteas thrash 'reckless' England by seven wickets

A superb display of pace bowling backed up by some steady batting saw South Africa thrash England by seven wickets in their final Group B tie at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Karachi on Saturday.

Chasing a modest 180, the Proteas hardly broke sweat as they overhauled the modest target with more than 20 overs to spare.

Rassie van der Dussen was the top scorer with an unbeaten 72 while Heinrich Klaasen gave him good company with a steady 64.

The duo put together a partnership of 127 runs before Klaasen was dismissed while attempting a bit shot off Adil Rashid.

But by then, South Africa had done enough to ensure a comfortable victory.

Earlier, opting to bat first, England were left to rue their decision as pacers Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder spearheaded the Proteas bowling attack with three-wicket hauls.

Jansen ripped through the English top-order for figures of 3-39 while Mulder picked up crucial wickets in the middle and lower order to return 3-25.

Veteran spinner Keshav Maharaj picked up two wickets as England were skittled out for a mere 179 runs in 38.2 overs.
