Reigning ODI world champions enter knockout stage while Afghans await SA vs England result
Reigning World Champion Australia are through to the semifinals of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after their Group B clash against Afghanistan was abandoned due to rain at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Friday. With this, Australia are through to the last-four stage, while Afghanistan are on the brink of elimination from the competition.
Afghanistan, though, will need a mathematical favour from England, who need to win by a margin of over 207 runs and for South Africa's net run rate to slip below theirs to enter the semifinals. It's also the sixth game featuring Australia has been abandoned in the Champions Trophy.
