UP govt busy in saving those behind the poisonous cough syrup scam: Akhilesh

Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in UP, alleging rampant corruption and worsening law and order situation in the state.

Calling the Codeine cough syrup case a “major scam”, Akhilesh said the poisonous syrup claimed the lives of many people yet the government is busy protecting the accused. He alleged that illegal business worth thousands of crores of rupees was conducted through approximately 700 shell companies, yet no action was taken. Officials are so fearful that they are not even valuing the homes of the accused.
