Punjab Overpower Mumbai by Seven Wickets to Clinch Top Spot

Punjab Kings rose to the top of the points table with a dominant all-round performance to outplay Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in a gripping Indian Premier League tie at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Monday evening.
Opting to bowl first, Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer saw his bowlers justify his decision by putting in a disciplined performance to restrict Mumbai to 184/7.
In reply, Josh Inglis and Priyansh Arya hit breezy half-centuries to lay the foundation for a successful chase as Punjab overhauled the target with nine deliveries to spare.
The team from the north thus displaced Gujarat Titans from the top spot, having accumulated 19 points from their 14 matches. Gujarat, who are on 18 points, will wait nervously for Tuesday's final league stage tie between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants to see whether they can go into the playoffs with a top-two finish. Mumbai remain fourth with 16 points.
