The Statesman Kolkata
|September 20, 2025
As a part of the plan to handle the increasing footfall brought by the full stretch operation of the Green Line Metro corridor, the Sealdah Division has decided to run one pair of new local EMU from Bidhannagar station before the approaching festive season.
With the swelling crowd during the pre-Puja period, the new local train is to be introduced on 22 September. To handle the huge rush of passengers, the divisional railway authorities have strategically identified the route of the new train planning to connect Bidhannagar with Kalyani, which is one of the busiest sections of Sealdah Division.
