NCW sends 11-point recommendation to CM

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued an 11-point recommendation to West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Governor CV Ananda Bose in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a medical student in Durgapur.

The commission, which has already taken suo motu cognizance of the case, said it is treating the matter with utmost seriousness.

The move follows a report submitted by NCW member and BJP leader Dr Archana Majumdar, who visited Durgapur to assess the situation and prepared a detailed account for the commission. Based on her findings and observations, NCW chairperson Vijay Rahatkar announced on social media that formal recommendations had been sent to the state's top authorities on Monday afternoon. Although the letter addressed to the chief minister and the Governor has not yet been made public, NCW sources confirmed that the Commission's recommendations focus on ensuring justice for the survivor, tightening campus security, and strengthening the overall safety framework in the Durgapur medical college and hospital where the alleged incident occurred.
