Kolkata police to roll out night-long ‘Pink Security Booths’
The Statesman Kolkata
|December 02, 2025
Amid growing concerns over crimes targeting women, Kolkata Police on Monday unveiled anew safety initiative: ‘Pink Security Booths’, to be staffed exclusively by women personnel and positioned across key points in the city.
The booths, designed as nightlong safety anchors for women on the roads, mark a citywide push to reinforce trust and accessibility after dark. According to senior officials, all ten police divisions have been instructed to begin groundwork immediately.
Each division will host two Pink Booths, adding up to twenty installations across Kolkata.
Alocation-mapping survey has already been completed, identifying major intersections as the most strategic points for the new outposts.
