A political slugfest has erupted in Kolkata over alleged police restrictions at the Santosh Mitra Square Durga Puja, inaugurated Friday by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE

BJP councillor Sajal Ghosh, who heads the pujacommittee, accused Kolkata Police of deliberately blocking access to the pandal and harassing organizers with notices and restrictions. He alleged that barricades near Sealdah station and narrow passageways were meant to reduce footfall, and claimed that police issued notices to the light and sound company seeking licences, GST documents and sound limiter records.
