Assam MLA Aminul Islam Detained Under NSA for 'Communal Speech': CM Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Aminul Islam, sitting MLA from Dhing and senior leader of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), has been detained under Section 3(2) of the National Security Act (NSA), 1980, for allegedly making inflammatory remarks that could disturb public order.

- STATESMAN NEWS SERVICE

The action follows a report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, Nagaon, stating that Islam had delivered a provocative speech during a recent panchayat election campaign.

A viral video had surfaced where the MLA was seen alleging that the recent Pahalgam terror attack was orchestrated by the government itself — a statement the administration labeled as baseless, misleading, and harmful to national security.
