The Additional District and Sessions Judge Fast Track Special Court under POCSO Act, Santh Kumar Nayak on Friday sentenced one Bira Singh Hansdah, 60, of Kusumi village to life imprisonment for raping a mentally challenged girl.
The accused had kidnapped the girl on 28 May 2024 and frequently raped her in a forest area. She managed to escape on 31 May and told her parents about her ordeal who in turn filed a police complaint after intervention by the villagers failed. On 17 June, the complaint was filed.
