Telangana High Court suspends conviction of Gali Janardhan Reddy, 3 others in Obulapuram mining case

In a reprieve to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, the Telangana High Court today suspended his sentence of seven years imprisonment along with three others in the Obulapuram mining case and granted them bail.
The CBI special court had convicted them of illegal mining and awarded them a sentence of seven years' imprisonment.
The three others who were also granted conditional bail apart from Reddy included his relative, BV Srinivasa Reddy, V Dasari Rajagopal and Mehfuz Ali Khan.
Justice K Lakshman announced the stay on the convictions following petitions filed by the convicts challenging the CBI special court's order and seeking bail.
Each was asked by the High Court to furnish a personal bond of Rs 10 lakh each and they were directed not to leave the country.
