Family of rape accused who was found dead in custody demands probe

The family of Shubhabrata Dutta, a private tutor who was found dead inside Burdwan Central Correctional Home while awaiting trial in an alleged rape case, has lodged an FIR at Burdwan Sadar Police Station.
They allege that the girl's family pressured him into taking his own life. The incident has sparked a stir across Burdwan town.
Paramita Dutta, sister of the deceased, has called for a full investigation to determine whether her brother committed suicide or was murdered in custody.
Mr Dutta taught mathematics at a private coaching centre in the Parapukur area of Burdwan and lived in a rented house in Sankharipukur along with two others. He originally hailed from Lautore village under Sainthia Police Station in Birbhum district.
