BJD dares BJP govt to release roadmap for Viksit Odisha 2036

The Biju Janata Dal on Monday alleged that the BJP government, which promised to do visible work in the state within 100 days of coming to power, has failed to keep its promise in the 300 days that have passed by.

Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das and Mahatma Gandhi were friends with contrasting views about achieving their goals, with the former focusing on pursuing the constitutional path to realize his objective of statehood for Odisha.

Dr Sangram Jena, poet and researcher, said the Mahatma was hugely influenced by Madhu babu's views on village industry, agriculture, and vocational education.

Mahatma Gandhi visited the Utkal Tannery established by Madhu babu in Cuttack in 1925, which he described as a 'national enterprise'. He even set up a small tannery in his Sabarmati ashram subsequently to replicate the initiative, saying Madhu babu had opened his eyes.

Gandhiji described Utkal Tannery as a secular institution, saying it laid emphasis on dignity of labor and removal of untouchability while enabling people to earn their livelihood.

On 15 November 1932, Mahatma Gandhi wrote an article in the Bombay Chronicle in which he erroneously referred to Madhu babu as 'late' Madhusudan Das. Realizing his mistake, Gandhi sent a telegram to Madhu babu three days later, apologizing for his mistake, Dr. Jena said.
