Abandoned police outposts worry citizens in Balasore

A strong discontentment is brewing among the residents of the town here as police outposts which were established since long have been closed for the reasons best known to the department.

As a spurt in crime, mostly drug peddling, illegal liquor smuggling, snatching etc have become a matter of concern for people, the closure of these outposts has angered them.

Some of the outposts were established in communally sensitive areas.

Reports said the outposts at Permitghat, Sunahat, Damodarpur and Bhaskar Ganj have been closed for more than 3 years.

Although residents and local councillors have raised the issue expressing concern even placing demand before the district superintendent of police there is no response.

The outpost buildings are abandoned and dilapidated.

Anti-socials use these premises alleged local people.
