Suspect, 38, held after two young women found shot dead in Mamelodi

A 38-year-old suspect has been taken into custody by police in relation to the killings of two women in Mamelodi East.

On Sunday, Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga, cousins, were discovered wounded with gunshot wounds. Tomorrow, the suspect is scheduled to appear in the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court.

On Sunday morning, the mother of one of the two young women who were shot dead, expressed her sorrow and said she would not wish her suffering on anyone, even her worst enemy. The family has been devastated by the horrifying event that took place.

Itumeleng Moramaga, 41, confirmed to IOL News that her daughter, Tshiamo Moramaga, 22, and her sister's daughter, Baleseng Moramaga, 21, were the victims.

Itumeleng, who said she was at home in Tembisa, was informed of the tragedy by her eldest sister, the mother of Baleseng. She confirmed that the two young women lived together in Mamelodi, where they rented a room.

"My eldest sister called me in the morning telling me about this incident, that I had to rush there. I asked what happened, and she just said the kids got hurt. I was shocked because my daughter had recently visited me," she said.
