Masandawana still favourites despite Sekhukhune’s start, says Tinkler

SEKHUKHUNE United coach Eric Tinkler maintains that Mamelodi Sundowns remain strong favourites for the league title, even though his side has enjoyed a more impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign.

Babina Noko have been in blistering form since the season kicked off, and as they prepare to host Golden Arrows on Saturday at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium (3pm kickoff), they have a chance to stretch their lead at the summit. With Kaizer Chiefs occupied in the CAF Confederation Cup this weekend, the log leaders can seize the opportunity to open up a gap at the top.

Currently, the Limpopo-based outfit leads the standings on 16 points, a single point ahead of second-placed Sundowns and three clear of Chiefs in third. Tinkler’s side and Amakhosi, however, still have a game in hand over the Brazilians.
