History echoed in chaotic reordering of global power

WE LIVE in a world of compromised politicians and money-grabbing media houses who have allowed Donald Trump to barge his way into their cabinet meetings and boardrooms, drench it with fear, and demand that they regard him as a “World President, albeit a fake one.”

Rarely have world leaders and their media partners grovelled before a leader who has such obvious limited intellectual, political and emotional capacity, and repeatedly caved in to him. He will call their leaders names, speak condescendingly of their countries, insult their journalists, break international law, while world leaders and media houses are either silent or have some justification for why it’s ‘marginal’ or ‘not such a big deal’

One should always be measured and not be given to analysis extremism, but the world has seen Trump up close for 11 years now. Rex Tillerson, his 2016 Secretary of State, said Trump is a “moron.” John Kelly, his 2016 Secretary of Homeland Security, described Trump as an authoritarian who “prefers the dictator approach to government”. HR McMaster, his 2016 National Security Adviser, said that Trump is a “thoroughly incompetent manager.” Gary Cohn, his Director of the National Economic Council, described the White House under Trump as “a s---show.” Everything these men - who all worked with and directly reported to him - have said about Trump is confirmed when one reads the type of information contained in the recently released US National Security Strategy.
