STRICKEN: A passer-by shelters the woman during her more than three-hour wait.
AMBULANCE service bosses have apologised after a stricken patient was left lying on a pavement in pouring rain for more than three hours.
Passersby called 999 at 5.02pm on December 5 after the woman fell in Grange Lane, Wolstanton.
They sheltered her with an umbrella and sheets - but an ambulance did not arrive until 8.08pm.
